Before you start!
What is your attitude to online/internet/email marketing of products, whether your own or someone else’s product that you might be selling to make yourself money? i.e. do you have lots of scruples or few scruples when it comes to selling this product?
This is a very important question, as it will affect not only the method you use, but the whole a setup from start to finish! Why? Let’s take two examples…
a) An internet marketer with few, if any scruples:
- The only consideration is to make as much money in the shortest time as possible, though (probably) avoiding dangers of blacklisting (including having accounts frozen or other penalties) as these will reduce future income… otherwise…
- Will sell any product, whether they believe in it or not
- Will create products with sales rather than value and content in mind
- Will make inflated claims of these products (even if they’ve never used them)
- Will use your email (if you sign up to their ‘newsletter’ – really just a sales list) to sell you any old junk (though usually related to whatever the original product niche is)
- Will take advantage of peoples desire or desperation without regard for financial damage
b) A scrupulously honest internet marketer:
- In it for the long term – so only use legitimate methods.
- Have self respect and want to provide a service with value to their customers
- Will only sell products they believe have value to the customer
- Will only make reasonable claims for these products
- If you sign up to their list or newsletter, the mailings will be of a reasonable frequency (e.g. twice a week at most)
- The content of mailings should be informative, though obviously they may also include sales links, these should again only make realistic claims, and not be for example bogus time-limit high pressure ‘special offers’
- Should only sell legitimate products – which always have a money-back guarantee, which is honoured.
I will only be dealing with the second type of person and approach. If you are more interested in the unscrupulous approach, please look elsewhere. You will be mostly looking at methods and plans which claim extremely high incomes can be achieved in short periods, but will last indefinitely… and will probably “operate on auto-pilot.” In other words you’ll get lied to and probably lose more money than you make – unless you are lucky. Also you’ll probably have to deal with a lot of unsatisfied customers.
